The Ultimate Check in #5

Tis the season to be Jolly!

And what a Jolly month it has been, and will be.

November brought us lots of things, so go grab a drink, pull up a chair and let’s check in with another round of the Ultimate coffee date.

At the start of the year I set a goal to run 1000km.  I hit that goal at the end of November. BooYeah!

So my running stats look a little like this:

Jan – 71.121000km-2014
Feb – 94.94
Mar – 95.24
Apr – 68.52
May– 76.66
June – 84.88
July – 112.78
Aug – 106.1
Sept – 103.7
Oct – 107.48
Nov – 90.15
Total – 1011.55
I’ll be honest with you and I had no idea how I was going to go after the sickness I had at the start of the year. But the fact that I achieved my running goal 1 month early makes me very happy.

My favourite run for the month would have to be Run From The Hills.  What an experience that was.  I’m so glad that I got the trail running training into me.

I also did my first ever Parkrun.

November also saw me enter another trail event called “Roller Coaster Run“, which I will be running on 21st March 2015.

This means that December will bring me a new training plan.  It will have me running more km’s.  It’s a little bit overwhelming but I need to trust in the plan.

The plan is to get me to a half marathon time goal of 1h45m.  And If my 16km SAAC run was anything to go by, then I should smash it.

However I’m in a bit of a conundrum.  I can’t decide on what Half Marathon to enter.

Do I go Run Melbourne (2012 & 2013), which is a lap course in Melbourne, and will be in the month of July.
Or do I run Sandy Point (ran the 5km previously), which is on the East side of the city but in August.

Sandy Point is further away, but it’s flat course, and runs along the beach.  It is also a smaller event.

Run Melbourne.  Although I have run before, is a bigger course, but well organised.

Entry fee’s to Run Melbourne have already opened and if I register before 15th December I will get a 15% discount.

Oh the decisions.

Or I could do both, and be a pacer for a friend at Run Melbourne, and go for the time goal at Sandy Point.

So what do you think I should do?

The other decision I have made is that on 4th January 2015 I will be doing the 21 days sugar detox.

I thought about doing another Whole30 or Whole15, but I’ve settled on Level 3 of the 21 day sugar detox.

There are 3 different level’s to the detox.  I’ve chosen level 3, because it’s hard core paleo minus the fruit.  I love fruit, and I know I will just use fruit to curb the sugar addiction if I just did another Whole30.

Fruit is still on the 21 day sugar detox, but only green apples and green tipped banana’s.

It will be a challenge, but it’s time to curb this sugar addiction.

December will see the celebration of my daughters 8th birthday, working, running, and lots of food.

If we were sitting down for coffee what would you tell me?
