10 Minutes of Mobility Everyday

Everyone should include some type of mobility in their life every day.

So what is mobility?

It’s the quality of being mobile. It’s functional movement.

As your mobility declines, muscles shorten and joints become stiff. Because our bodies are efficient, they shut down the areas that become unused. This leads to stiffness and pain in a downward spiral that gets worse with age.

Whole Life Challenge on Mobility

We inadvertently do some sort of mobility without conscious thought. It might be a stretch as we get up in the morning or a side bend as we stand up from sitting at the desk.

We feel better after we do it, but what if we consciously did that everyday, how much better we would feel.

10 Reason to do Mobility Every Day

  1. Prevention of injury
  2. Recover faster from injury
  3. Stress reduction
  4. Increases your concentration
  5. An increase of flexibility
  6. A better mind-body-breath connection
  7. Improvement of balance and stability
  8. Improve posture
  9. Develop body awareness
  10. Improvement in your chosen sport

Since completing my first round of the Whole Life Challenge back in April 2017, I saw huge benefits of doing just 10 minutes of stretching each day.

At first, I hated those 10 minutes, but on top of that doing it EVERY day. Argh, yeah, I won’t lie, I hated those 10 minutes.

It took about 2 weeks for me to notice the benefits.

Then those 10 minutes became the best part of my day.  I would simply listen to my body and adjust my routine to suit what I needed that day.

Forms of mobility could be:

  • Pilates
  • Yoga
  • Stretching
  • Foam rolling
  • Spikey ball

Whatever form you chose, it will aid you in becoming more limber, agile and give you more freedom in your movement.

If you’re not already including it, start today, and in time you will notice a difference in all aspects of your life.
