You are stronger than you think

Don’t limit yourself because you think you cannot do something.  You never know what you are capable of until you try.

Just look at my mum.  She did a Tough Mudder at age 64.

She’s a strong cookie, and a great role model.

Remember why you started

It’s a simple statement, and one we all too easily forget.

We all have a reason for why we started, and your reason no matter how big or small was important to you.

Have fun

If it’s not fun, why do it?

Running isn’t for everyone, and that’s ok.  What matters is, I enjoy it, and I have fun in the process.

If it’s important to you, you will find a way

Or you’ll just find an excuse.  Which comes back to having fun.  If you enjoy something, you’ll keep coming back to it, if you don’t like it you’ll just end up finding reasons not to do it.

Make it a family affair

One thing I have noticed is that those parents who are individually involved in a sporting club are more likely to have their kids involved in a club sport. It might not be the same sport, but a sport all the same.

It’s also a great opportunity to do something fun together as a family.

If I want my kids to be fit and healthy, then it’s important that I am too.  Remember you are a role model.

Try new things

It’s good for the mind body and soul.

It’s ok to fail

Failure happens.  It’s not the end of the world.  Learn from it and move on.

Change is inevitable

Remember you are not a tree, if you don’t like something change.

Set goals

I’m a big fan of goals.

Goals help define exactly what you want in life.

They can be big or small, it doesn’t matter.  If it’s important to you, you will find a way to achieve it.

Be you

Be comfortable with who you are.

Not everyone is going to like you, and that’s ok, you aren’t going to like everyone either.

When you recognise what you love about yourself, you will not only be more happier, you will be content and confident.

I’ve learned a lot of my fitness journey.

Sure I’ve made mistakes and had failures along the way, but without those mistakes or failures I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Everyone’s journey is going to be different.

It’s what you get out of your journey that matters.

  2. These are all great. your lesson “If it’s important to you, you will find a way,” really stood out to me. When I worked as a wellness coach I often had clients who had these big dreams, but week in week out they failed to stick to the plans we outlined together. I had to have this talk many times, if it was important to them they would find a way to fit it in their schedule. And if these goals truly were not that important we should reassess what we were working towards.

    • There is nothing wrong with big dreams. The only problem with big dreams are that they can seem overwhelming to achieve.
      So that’s why I like to break down my big goals into small mini achievable goals. Like dominoes. Because eventually all those little goals will get you to the target.

  4. Love your life lessons! Especially loved that you added that it is okay to fail, so many people get caught up in needing to be perfect that they forget we really do learn so much from our failures, plus it’s okay to try, try again!!!
    Also love that your family oriented and all about fun, but I think I have told you that many times before:)

    • Thanks Kristy. Yeah I think failure is def ok in my books. Some people give up because of failure. But if you really want something, you’ll keep trying, because you will eventually be successful.
